Toronto, September 18, 2012 - - After a five year absence, Australian-Italian comedy superstar Joe Avati makes his hotly anticipated return to Canada as part of his "Back To Basics World Tour." Kicking off in Windsor, Ontario on September 22, 2012, the national Canadian tour will end in Ottawa on November 15, with stops in 14 cities, including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Known internationally for his ethnic-flavoured comedy, Joe is back and better than ever in an all-new, hilarious show that gently skewers his Italian-Australian upbringing. Joe is pleased to welcome two immensely talented and very funny Italo-Canadian comedians as opening acts to his 2012 Back to Basics tour: Toronto's Freddy Proia and Montreal's Guido Grasso.

August 20, 2012 - - Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Mika Kaurismäki (The House of Branching Love, Three Wise Men, Brothers) wrote, directed and produced Road North, a darkly comic and touching road movie about a prodigal father who returns to see his son 35 years after abandoning him. Set against the vast expanse of the Finnish landscape, Road North stars the country's leading film and music icons, Vesa-Matti Loiri (Leo) and Samuli Edelmann (Timo) as the estranged father and son. Comically polar opposites, the two head north in a stolen car, journeying through quirky pit-stops and shocking revelations until Timo comes to understand and empathize with his father.

TORONTO, AUGUST 14, 2012 - - Australian-Italian comedy superstar Joe Avati is heading back to Canada this fall as part of his "Back To Basics World Tour." His hotly awaited Canadian tour kicks off in Windsor, Ontario on September 22, 2012 and will end in Montreal, Quebec on November 9, with stops in 14 cities and four provinces.

One of the biggest names in international comedy, Avati will return to Canada after a five-year absence. Avati still holds the record for the fastest-selling comedy show ever in Canada, selling 3200 tickets in just nine minutes at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. The Back to Basics Tour will stop in 15 cities, including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

Toronto, July 17, 2012 - The Documentary Organization of Canada | Association des documentaristes du Canada (DOC) and CBC's digital channel documentary are proud to announce the recipients of the final round of the 2012 documentary mentorship program - GIVING VOICE: FILMMAKERS WORKING WITH FILMMAKERS. Four pairs of talented apprentices and established Canadian documentary filmmakers have been chosen to work on a variety of exciting new projects.
